Here are the answers of the person who wrote the servey (I hope she doesn't mind that I am putting them here for this reason I am not going to say who the person is): T/F (this was after a discussion on abortion)
1. A woman has the right to control her own body. F 2. Men and women are equal (*note: equal does not mean 'the same'). T 3. A woman should make it her goal to reach her fullest potential in every ability God has given her. T & F 4. Men and women have interchangeable roles in marriage. F (I guess Eric wants me to explain this...I don't know what his background is, but I base my beliefs on God's Word...in this question I think the idea was more about the position of the man and wife than it was about little acts that they might do. For example, the husband is in the position of authority over his wife. He is to love her, but she is also to submit to him because he is the God-given leader of the home. Personally, I prefer a man who is stronger than I am and strong enough to chop wood :-), but hopefully you understand a little better what I meant. If not, ask me specific questions so that I can try to improve my explanation. I enjoyed reading Eric's answers, and he made some good arguments.)
Hypothetical
6. If at the end of your life, you could give anything in the world to anyone in the world, what would you give and to whom would you give it? besides giving the desire for salvation and giving eternal life to every human being, I'll take J.B.'s answer: I would give a kind word or time spent with someone to whom I should have given it earlier and failed to do so. (does that make sense?) 7. If you could give a child one piece of advice about life, what would you tell him/her? Honor your parents and seek God above all; it is never worth your pride or anything else to give up on God because He is the ONLY One you can completely depend on to always be there for you 8. If you could write the closing remarks at your funeral, what would you want to be said and remembered? I would want people to remember that I made an effort to take every opportunity to serve and witness and that I didn't just take the opportunities that came but that I also went out of my way to seek opportunities to serve others and to share the gospel. I know it will take a lot to get to that point. I would want people to see that I was closer to God than to anybody else. Like I said, I have a long way to go and a lot to learn.
"Personal"
9. What are three of the most important things your best friend should know about you? he should know my core values (Mr. Stafford - values that don't change; what I really consider important, worth sacrificing my own status, etc., for those values) - I hope he would see that I have convictions and am willing to stand for what is right no matter what; he should know what really makes me angry, sad, happy; he should know my areas of spiritual weakness and my spiritual strengths so that he knows how we can encourage and help each other; well, hopefully that is satisfactory for now
10. What are three things that come to your mind when you think of your best/closest friend(s)? "gone," true, compassionate
11. Who is your most memorable teacher and why (preferably a positive reason)? Mr. Stafford; he makes an effort to teach us not only academics, but also values that will help us to reach our highest potential in the real world, but especially for God
12. Name someone who was not your authority who taught you something valuable. What did he/she teach you and why/how? Wendy; she taught - or showed - me boldness and humility - a combination that can only be gained by focusing on God and caring only what He thinks
13. What do you think you'll remember most about high school and/or college? Mr. Stafford and his advice, my friendships, the time I spent with my friends investing in their lives or learning from them, working at daycare, changes...
14. How do you spend your time and money (idea from Mr. Stafford)? not as wisely as I could; I am trying to improve, but especially in my time, I waste much of it because I don't always take the time to specifically plan what to do and why - that is, I need to take more time to make goals for how to reach my highest potential for God; I know I don't spend enough time seeking God (that's an understatement)
15. How do you think strangers see you? I feel like they see me as boring, rude and untactful sometimes...and other times I think strangers are the ones who see me as a friendly person but that maybe people who have been around me see me as boring, rude, untactful, etc., because that is often how I see myself. If only I would focus on what God thinks of me, I would save so much time and use it better for God...so much is wasted in worrying about the thoughts of others
16. How should they see you? I'd like them to see me as friendly, caring, bold, and God-fearing
17. If you could change one thing about your life so far, what would you change? all the times I saw a need and refused to try to help by either encouraging someone or witnessing to someone; and all the times I gave in to peer pressure or rebelled against God...but maybe I wouldn't change the second half (after the semi-colon) because you're bound to mess up and I've learned from those mistakes (since I was bound to make them, I'm glad they're in the past and I have time to change while I'm still comparatively 'young')
18. What would you say is the test of true character? (*according to my history teacher, there is a correct answer to this, but there could be several [correct] answers to this) I would stick with Mr. Stafford's answer, how you spend your time and money
19. What's the ideal place when you're retired and relaxing at 70 years old? What do you want to remember about your life? (another question from Mr. Stafford, my economics & history teacher; e.g. for him it's a room with mahogany walls, sitting in a leather, rolling chair with a roaring fire going) what do you intend to do to make sure that is what you will remember? the ideal place - maybe the beach in Africa, where the shore is lined with palm trees and I could listen to the roaring waves and enjoy the BLUE sky... I would want to remember taking every opportunity possible to share the gospel; raising godly, evangelistic, passionate children; and choosing to be kind in my words no matter what and make an effort to encourage someone at least once every day
20. What do you think of these questions? (okay, I know that's cliche) well, I wrote them...but I'm glad I answered them; it made me really think about what I need to do to change/what I should be doing differently if I want to reach those goals...and it made me think of how much I need to be taught because there's so much I have to learn about what it means to succeed...so many more aspirations I could have to change the world. And you're right...it does give you insight into the heart of a person; that's why it is dangerous to take this kind of test - I'm giving you a lot of trust by sending it. :-) By the way, I'm glad you came here, Kyla. (don't forget to give me a senior picture)...and thanks for taking the survey; I respect you. |
